Deva Box Office Collection Day 1: Shahid Kapoor's Film Off To A Slow Start, Fails to Break Into His Top 10 Openers

Rosshan Andrrews made his directorial debut in Hindi cinema with the high-octane action drama Deva, which hit theatres on January 31. Starring Shahid Kapoor as a cop and Pooja Hegde, the film made approximately Rs 5 crore on its opening day, according to Sacnilk.

Deva failed to surpass Shahid's previous film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, which opened with Rs. 6.7 crore. The film faced tough competition at the box office, with other major releases like Akshay Kumar's Sky Force, Ram Charan's Game Changer, and Kangana Ranaut's Emergency.

According to Box Office India, Deva was especially dependent on the Maharashtra region for its opening, but it didn't fare as well in cities like Mumbai and Pune, which showed lower-than-expected turnout. Additionally, regions like NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Central India performed poorly for the action-packed thriller, which kept its opening day collection at around Rs 5 crore. As a result, the film didn't break into Shahid's top 10 openers, landing in the 11th spot behind Haider.

However, Deva managed to outperform Sky Force, which grossed only Rs. 2.75 crore on its opening day. The movie's occupancy rate reflected a slow start, with just 5.87% in the morning shows, 9.18% in the afternoon and 9.77% in the evening.

With music by Vishal Mishra, original background score by Jakes Bejoy, and cinematography by Amit Roy, the film also stars Pooja Hegde, Pavail Gulati, Pravesh Rana, and Kubbra Sait in pivotal roles.

She wrote a long note narrating the severe accident, topped with Shah Rukh Khan's song and lines from his films. Shweta shared she didn't give up after such a harrowing incident. She assured her fans and followers that she would come back with a renewed spirit.

Shweta began her note with these words, "Life is full of surprises, isn't it? One moment, you're humming #kalhonaho and planning to tackle your day.

"The next moment, life decides to say, "Hold my chai," and sends a bike your way. For no fault of mine, I found myself going from walking to flying (not the Bollywood slow-mo kind, sadly) and landing straight into a forced rest mode," she wrote.

Shweta wrote how she's dealing with this "chapter" of her life with courage and resilience.

"Fractured bones, bruises, and endless hours in bed-this wasn't in my to-do list. But hey, maybe the universe thought I needed a lesson in patience or just wanted me to star in my own mini-soap opera, complete with hospital drama."

"The truth is, sometimes life shakes us to break us, only to rebuild us stronger. After all, destruction paves the way for construction, Shweta mentioned.

Take a look at her full post here:

Shweta and Pulkit got married in 2014. And after a year, they broke up. Pulkit Samrat married actress Kriti Kharbanda last year in an intimate ceremony.

Fatima Sana Shaikh On Her Casting Couch Experience In South Films: "You Will Do Everything, Right?"

Fatima Sana Shaikh, who made her debut with Aamir Khan's Dangal, recently opened up about her casting couch experience in a Southern film. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, Fatima recalled a casting agent's call and how his repeated "provocative" words made her feel uncomfortable.

The Ludo actor told Bollywood Bubble, "He asked me, 'You will be ready to do everything, right?' I told him that I will be working hard and will do what is required for the role, but he kept saying that, and I played dumb because I wanted to see how low can he get."

Recalling the experience of meeting a producer in Hyderabad, Fatima told the portal, "The producers would talk about it very openly, 'You know, here you have to meet people'.

"They wouldn't say things outright but would imply them in strange ways. Of course, they'd say it indirectly but make their intentions clear. They'd say things like, 'You have to meet people', or 'You have to do this and that'."

Fatima Sana Shaikh also revealed how casting directors exploited newcomers in Mumbai by demanding a "cut" from their earnings on the pretext of "references."

Fatima Sana Shaikh was seen as a child artiste in Kamal Haasan's Chachi 420. Later, she worked in films like Thugs of Hindostan, Ludo, Ajeeb Daastaans, Thar, Sam Bahadur.

Sky Force Box Office Collection Day 2: Akshay Kumar And Veer Pahariya's Film Shows No Signs Of Slowing Down

Akshay Kumar and Veer Pahariya's aerial action thriller Sky Force experienced a 75% surge in earnings on Saturday, following a solid opening day at the box office.

As reported by Sacnilk, the film saw a 75.51% increase in earnings, raking in Rs 21.5 crore on Saturday alone. This brings its total earnings to Rs 33.75 crore after two days of release.

Sky Force has come as a much-needed relief for Akshay, marking his most successful movie release in years. The film opened to solid double-digit collections.

According to Sacnilk, Sky Force earned Rs 11.25 crore (net) on its opening day. The movie was made on a relatively modest budget of Rs 160 crore.

The last big hit in Akshay Kumar's career was Sooryavanshi (2021), directed by Rohit Shetty. It was made on a budget of Rs 160 crore and earned Rs 293 crore globally.

His last few releases, including Khel Khel Mein, Sarfira, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, Mission Raniganj, Selfiee, Ram Setu, Raksha Bandhan, Samrat Prithviraj, and Bachchhan Paandey, all failed to make a mark at the box office.

Akshay's last major release, Singham Again, raked in Rs 372.4 crore globally, but that movie was led by Ajay Devgn and featured an ensemble cast, with Akshay appearing in a cameo. Additionally, he made a guest appearance in Stree 2, which performed well, earning Rs 857.15 crore worldwide.

Since the film's trailer launch, Sky Force has drawn comparisons to Fighter, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone. Fighter was also released around Republic Day last year and made Rs 22.5 crore on its opening day. Fighter, with a production budget of Rs 250 crore, went on to become a success, grossing Rs 358.83 crore worldwide.

Sky Force is based on the untold story of India's first and deadliest airstrike, showcasing the events of the 1965 India-Pakistan War.

Veer Pahariya makes his acting debut as IAF officer T Vijaya, who goes missing in action during the war, while Akshay Kumar plays his fellow officer, KO Ahuja, who embarks on a mission to find him.
