Anjini Dhawan Shines In Trailer Of Her Debut Project Binny And Family

The trailer for Binny And Family is out now. The coming-of-age drama features debutants Naman Tripathy and Anjini Dhawan, who is the niece of Varun Dhawan. The video opens with two NRI school students sitting on top of a car trunk, eating their tiffin and talking about how difficult it is to mix with grandparents. Soon after, we are introduced to Anjini's character Binny. She is not just a schoolkid, but an outgoing girl who smokes cigarettes in the washroom, loves shooting videos, partying with friends and drinking. When Binny is partying late, her mother, played by Charu Shankar, calls to check in, but she gets irritated and asks her to “chill out.” A few seconds later, the teenager's father, played by Rajesh Kumar, announces that his parents are flying in from India and will stay with them for two months. Clearly, Binny is not happy with their arrival.

Things get even more dramatic when Binny's grandparents, played by Pankaj Kapur and Himani Shivpuri, start imposing restrictions on her. They ask her to eat with everyone, return home on time and not stay in the washroom for too long. The girl is even seen talking to her friend on the phone and telling how her grandmother stitched her rugged jeans. In between, Binny's parents also talk about how their parents would not understand the concept of “space.” 

In a stern tone, Pankaj Kapur tells Binny, “Ladki jaat ho. Kuch anhoni ho gaya to kisko muh dikhange hum log.” Next, she is seen running in the streets and screaming in distress. The viewers are also shown how the generation gap creates a distance between Binny's father and grandfather. 

We also get a sweet message about how the communication gap actually intensifies the generation gap. Towards the end, a hilarious scene shows Binny's grandfather finding a poster of Dr Dre in her room and confusing him with an actual doctor.

Aditi Rao Hydari And Siddharth Reveal Wedding Venue - A 400-Year-Old Temple In Wanaparthy

Aditi Rao Hydari and Siddharth co-starred in the 2021 romantic action film Maha Samudram. Rumours about their relationship started doing the rounds in 2022 after Aditi wished Siddharth on his birthday and they announced their engagement in March this year. When asked about the big wedding plans in an interview with Vogue India, Aditi Rao Hydari simply shared a single detail. She said that "the wedding will be centred around a 400-year-old temple in Wanaparthy that is of significance to my family." The couple also recalled their first meeting.

So, here's how it began, during the shoot of Maha Samudram, Siddharth walked in and said, "Hello, beautiful girl," recalled Aditi. She added, "Usually, when someone says something like this, it does not work. But he was being genuine. By the end of the day, he had me and pretty much everyone on the set in splits. He also ensured that my team and I had ghee idlis whipped up by his cook every day for the rest of the shoot."

Aditi Rao Hydari was last seen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi. She has featured in films like Ajeeb Daastans, Delhi 6, Bajirao Mastani, to name a few. The actress had multiple releases last year. She starred in the smash hit series Jubilee last year. She was also seen in the web-series Taj: Divided by Blood.

Siddharth has featured in film across languages, including Tamil, Telugu and Hindi films in a career spanning decades. He is best-known for his performances in films like Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana, Rang De Basanti, Bommarillu, Striker and Anaganaga O Dheerudu, to name a few. He was last seen in Indian 2.

Varun Dhawan On Niece Anjini's Bollywood Debut: "Welcome To The Movies"

Varun Dhawam attended the trailer launch event of his niece Anjini Dhawan's debut film Binny And Family on Friday in Mumbai. Speaking of his niece's acting debut, Varun Dhawan said, "She is my niece but I am here as sort of an elder brother... It is a good film that is why I am here. Like my father never launched me because that tradition is not there in my family, he doesn't believe in that. We have no hand in what she has done and it will be wrong for me to take credit for any of her success," news agency PTI quoted Varun as saying. Varun is the son of veteran filmmaker David Dhawan.

Varun Dhawan, who made his film debut with Karan Johar's 2012 film Student Of The Year, added, "Genuinely, she has done it on her own and I am very proud of her that she has done this journey."

Sharing the trailer of Binny And Family on his Instagram story, Varun Dhawan wrote, "Anjini Dhawan, this is so good. Welcome to the movies."

Binny And Family has been directed by Ssanjay Tripaathy, and it also features Naman Tripathy Pankaj Kapur, Rajesh Kumar, Himani Shivpuri and Charu Shankar. The film is scheduled to release in theatres on September 20.

Varun Dhawan recently featured in a cameo appearance in Stree 2. He was last seen in Bawaal, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor. Before that he featured in fantasy film Bhediya with Kriti Sanon. His line-up of projects include Citadel: Honey Bunny (the India chapter), co-starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Citadel is a multi-series with productions from India, Italy and Mexico. The India chapter of Citadel has been helmed by Raj and DK. He will also star in Baby John. He will also be a part of Border 2 with Sunny Deol.

Varun Dhawan is the star of films like October, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania, ABCD 2, Jugjugg Jeeyo, Student Of The Year, Badlapurand Dilwale to name a few.

The film opened to largely positive reviews and a stellar box office opening. In his review for NDTV, Saibal Chatterjee wrote, "All the principal actors know exactly what the game is. Embracing the zaniness of the project with gusto, they appear appreciably more into the swing of things than they were in the precursor. If only Stree 2 had kept pace with the wonderfully clued-in cast, it would have been an unqualified success. If it isn't, it is only because it shies away from breaking the mould and does not aim for more than just more of the same."

Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 15: Shraddha Kapoor And Rajkummar Rao's Film Is At 432 Crore (And Counting)

Amar Kaushik's Stree 2 debuted in theatres on August 15 and became the biggest opener of 2024. The film achieved double-digit collections everyday for the first two weeks. Despite the slight drop in numbers in the third week, the movie is well on its way to entering the Rs 500 crore-club in India. On day 15, Stree 2 earned Rs 8.25 crore, reported Sacnilk. With this, the film's total collection now stands at Rs 432.80 crore. Stree 2 had an overall 16.5% Hindi occupancy on Thursday, August 29, the report added. The film features Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana in key roles. Additionally, it included guest appearances from Tamannaah Bhatia, Akshay Kumar and Varun Dhawan. 

On Thursday, Bollywood trade analyst Taran Adarsh posted an update on Stree 2's box office numbers on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, "Stree2 continues to exhibit a rock-steady trend, with a minimal decline on its [second] Wed compared to Tue... This solid hold on weekdays - especially after a string of holidays - suggests that the film is poised for an impressive Weekend 3.[Week 2] Fri 19.30 cr, Sat 33.80 cr, Sun 40.75 cr, Mon 20.20 cr, Tue 12.25 cr, Wed 10.40 cr. Total: ₹ 444.50 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice."

Previously, in an interaction with News18, Rajkummar Rao reacted to Stree 2's box office success. The actor said, "We were sure that the film would get lot of love because of the love that Stree 1 got. There's a big fan-following for Stree, including me. I am a huge fan of Stree myself. But these numbers are way above our expectations. We are glad and super elated. There's a lot of gratitude that this is happening with a film like Stree, because it is content-driven film.”

The Stree series falls under Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe alongside Roohi, Bhediya and Munjya. Stree 2 is bankrolled by Vijan and Jyoti Deshpande under Maddock Films and Jio Studios.

Vijay Varma Recalls His Financial Rough Patch: "There Were Just Rs 18 In My Account"

You must be living under a rock if you have not heard about Vijay Varma's latest Netflix show IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack which released today (August 29). Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the mini-series is based on the hijack of an Indian aircraft by Pakistani militants in 1999. Ahead of the film's release, Vijay appeared on Shubhankar Mishra's podcast on YouTube where he spoke about various aspects of his life. In one segment, the Jaane Jaan star opened up about his “lowest phase” and battling financial constraints. Vijay Varma said, “Woh bohot bura time thha. Bohot hi lowest low thha. 18 rupees account mei thhe aur 2 option thhe khane ke. Yaa toh paani puri kha lu 12 rupees mei 6-8, ya 13 rupees mei 2 idli aayegi. Toh yeh dono mei se 1 choice mujhe lena thha. [It was a very bad time, it was my lowest low. There were just 18 rupees in my account and I had two options for food. I could either eat 6-8 paani puris for Rs 12 or have 2 idlis for 13 rupees. I had to choose any one from the two].”

Despite coming from a well-off family, Vijay Varma revealed that he stopped taking money from his parents. Sharing the reason, the actor said, “Mujhe kisi samjhdar aadmi ne bola ki jab tak tera yeh rent aur basic kharcha aata rahega, tu hilega nahi. Tere andar fire jo hai usko thora sa jalane dae. [A wise man told me ‘As long as your rent and basic expenses keep coming, you will not move. Let the fire inside you burn a little[.”

“2-3 mahine mei haalat aisi ho gayi thhi ki kuch nhi bacha hai. Ussi time pe maine ek chhota sa role bhi kiya thha, jo maine paise ke liye kiya thha aur bohot bura experince raha. [Within 2-3 months the situation became such that there was no money left. At the same time, I also did a small role, which I did for money, and had a very bad experience]. It was probably the lowest,” added Vijay. 

Speaking about IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, the aviation drama also features Pankaj Kapur, Arvind Swami, Kumud Mishra, Naseeruddin Shah, Amrita Puri, Dia Mirza  and Patralekhaa.

The recently unveiled teaser for The Buckingham Murders  gave fans a glimpse into the film's intense narrative. It begins with a chilling scene involving the murder of a young child from an Indian family in a park, which ignites widespread protests and outrage. This sets the stage for Kareena Kapoor's character, a dedicated detective who delves into the case, seeking to unravel the truth behind the disturbing crime.

Kareena Kapoor's involvement in The Buckingham Murders marks her first collaboration with director Hansal Mehta. Notably, Kareena also takes on the role of producer for this project. The film also marks another collaboration between Ektaa R Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, following blockbusters like Veere Di Wedding and Crew.
